Down to Earth works towards creating healthy, ecologically
balanced landscapes, where all natural systems function harmoniously.
Water, slope, soil type, directional orientation, microclimates and
elevation are some of many factors to consider when designing a
landscape.
We work with our clients to understand the ecological systems of
their place: to know where the birds perch, where the morning sun
casts its first light, where snow collects in the winter, which routes
are taken around the property, to the house and from the garden.
The native plant palette of New Mexico offers stunningly beautiful,
xeric species around which to structure any type of garden and,
coupled with creative water harvesting and
quality stonework, an original oasis evolves
over time.
In crafting landscapes for our clients, our
goal is to create gardens that sing with
species diversity, ecological balance,
multi-seasonal interest, vibrant color,
scent and texture and edibles for
humans and animals alike. We
invite you to meander through a
few of our favorite landscapes
observe and enjoy!
