Intention. Vision. Core Principles.
We design from the ground up with the restoration and respectful use of natural resources at the forefront of our concepts. While developing original concepts for such sites as intimate residential courtyards to expansive multi-complex commercial properties, water, soil, terrain, orientation and microclimate characteristics form the foundation of our garden "bones".
Once resource infrastructure has been assessed and integrated as the basis of the aesthetic design, we choose from an underutilized native and edible plant palette. Such rare, heirloom and unfamiliar species offer exciting alternatives to more conventional "lipstick" landscapes-we aim for depth and dimension in our gardens, which beam with healthy reslience, integrity and original grace.
Landscape Design Process
Once the initial on-site consultation has been completed, a written proposal detailing the scope of design work to be done is generated and, if agreed upon, we embark on the design process. We typically begin by presenting one or two concepts with garden infrastructure and layout defined, along with an accompanying sample plant species list. In collaboration with our clients, we hone the concept until the final desired conceptual plan has been crafted.
The concept informs the specifications for water harvesting, irrigation, water feature, stonework and planting details. The specifications phase is separate from and after the initial concept development process and provides sufficient information for the successful implementation of the plan by experienced professionals. We prefer to implement our own designs to ensure their accurate - and perfected - realization of the original vision.
